Svadisthana Chakra - Sacral Chakra

Commentary: The Sacral Chakra, also called the Navel Chakra or Sex Chakra, is located in the lower abdomen. It rules the domain of sexuality (including procreation), creativity (spiritual procreation) and emotions. Through these emotions it links us with others. The name means 'seat of the life force', 'seat of the self'. It is the chakra of our primal emotions, our connectedness with others that dates from the earliest days of humanity, our connectedness with previous generations through the mother, our connectedness with our own physicality. Here lives the wild man in us, the wild woman is us, the child in us, the man or woman who remained a child always, who knows how to live - and the social animal too, lives her, man/woman in consort with others. With positive development this chakra gives gracious, flowing movements, a rich and deep emotional life, sexual satifaction, joy in life, and the flexibility required to effectively respond to life's changes.

Personal aspects: This is the chakra of gut-feeling in all its connotations, and of all that comes from it. The ability to give your emotions free rein, to feel with others, to express yourself creatively, especially in ways that touch others emotionally. Other aspects are joi-de-vivre and 'the art of living' - both of which contribute to fantasy, and the inspiration that fires creation. Negative development: 'Losing it' in unchecked emotionality, indulgence in sentimentality, vulnerability, spiritual debauch.

Corporate aspects: Warm relationships with clients, suppliers. Building and maintenance of network, relationships predicated on mutual profit, shared business interests. Negative development: Manipulation. Excluding people, playing one against the other. Killing creativity out of envy, and fanning fear. In general playing with others' feelings as if playing an instrument for the furtherance of private goals.

Challenge (dilemma to be reconciled): To connect with others without loosing your own identity.
